Septimiu Jugrestan

Associate Professor Septimiu Jugrestan serves in the Department of Sculpture at the University of Art and Design of Cluj-Napoca (UAD), where he has been faculty since 2009. He currently holds the prestigious position of President of the University Senate (2024-present) and previously served as President of the Ethics and Professional Deontology Committee (2021-2024). His academic journey includes positions as University Lecturer (2012-2015) and Associate Professor (2009-2012) at the same institution.

Dr. Jugrestan's research interests span monumental statuary, digital technologies in art (particularly CAD-CAM-CAE applications), and comparative studies of prominent sculptors Richard Serra and Constantin Brâncuși. His academic foundation includes a Doctoral Degree in Sculpture from the University of the Basque Country (2009), where his thesis focused on Richard Serra's 'Materia Timpului' installation.

His artistic output reveals a strong focus on commemorative monumental works, with over 20 significant sculptures created between 2004-2019 across Romania and Spain, including busts of cultural figures and religious monuments. His recent work demonstrates increasing integration of digital technologies with traditional sculptural practices.
