Semra Akay is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology, Gaziantep University. With a PhD in Geography from Durham University (2017), an MA from Bristol University (2012), and a BA in Geography Education from Dicle University (2009), her academic career spans institutions in Turkey and the UK.

Her articles span themes such as feminist historical geography, religion-environment relationships, and geopolitical implications of mega-projects.
