Dr. Selwyn Hanselman is a Researcher at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry (LIC), part of Leiden University's Faculty of Science. He holds a PhD in Chemistry (2022) focusing on computational electrochemistry, catalysis, and sustainable energy. His work explores phenomena like CO2 reduction, solvation modeling, and corrosion mechanisms of platinum electrodes. He is affiliated with the Catalysis and Surface Chemistry group under the Fundamental Research in Energy & Sustainability division.
- Education: PhD in Chemistry (2022), Leiden University
Research interests include computational methods (e.g., density functional theory), materials science, and energy storage. His doctoral thesis addressed challenges in electrocatalytic processes and corrosion, supported by grants from NWO Solar Fuels and HPC-Europa3.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Catalysis and Surface Chemistry laboratory under Prof. M.T.M. Koper and Dr. F. Calle-Vallejo.
