Dr. Marco Schönig is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry (LIC), part of Leiden University's Faculty of Science. He is affiliated with the Energy & Sustainability department within the Catalysis and Surface Chemistry group. His research focuses on catalytic mechanisms, surface chemistry, and photocatalytic materials. Recent contributions include studies on hydrogen adsorption interactions on platinum electrodes and interfacial properties of ruthenium-based surfactants.
His work explores electrochemical systems and functional molecular design, supported by Horizon 2020 funding (Grant 828838). He has published in high-impact journals like The Journal of Physical Chemistry C and Langmuir.
