Dr. Selinda Orr is a Senior Lecturer at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine within Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. Her research focuses on fungal immunology and host-pathogen interactions, with expertise in lectin receptors and antifungal immunity. She leads active projects on fungal sensing/signalling and C-type lectin-like receptors in CNS remyelination.
Dr. Orr's research investigates molecular mechanisms of fungal recognition, immune responses to Candida and Aspergillus species, and cytokine signaling pathways. Her work bridges microbiology, immunology, and clinical medicine, with recent studies examining immune deficiencies in COVID-19 patients and novel diagnostic biomarkers.
She serves as session chair for international conferences and holds advisory roles in professional societies including the International Cytokine & Interferon Society. Dr. Orr accepts PhD students and contributes to public engagement through science communication initiatives.
