Dr. Seham Al-Shwayli serves as a Lecturer in Learning Services within the School of Education at La Trobe University, bringing professional experience from high school and English as an Additional Language (EAL) teaching roles across the Middle East and Australia.
Her research spans teacher education, pedagogy, sociology of education, and intersections of language, culture, identity, and society, with recent focus on EAL Teacher Professional Development, Student Success, and Curriculum Development. A notable project developed professional development modules for EAL teachers in regional Victorian high schools, incorporating family and community partnerships to support refugee-background families.
Dr. Al-Shwayli's scholarly contributions appear in journals including TESOL in Context and Women's Studies International Forum, reflecting her commitment to inclusive educational practices and sociocultural dimensions of language teaching.
