Sebastien Penninckx is a Researcher at the University of Namur, specializing in nanotechnology-driven advancements in radiotherapy and radiation biology. He leads projects such as PROTHER-WAL (Proton Therapy Research in Wallonia) and DiaGold (D-Dimer detection biosensors). His work focuses on nanoparticles as radiosensitizers, radiation resistance mechanisms in organisms like bdelloid rotifers, and space radiobiology.
- Education: Master’s in Chemistry (2014), PhD in Sciences (2019)
Research interests include radiation biology, nanomedicine applications, and evolutionary adaptations to extreme environments. He has contributed to over 24 publications and datasets, including work on C. elegans models for radiation effects and ancestral desiccation resistance in rotifers. Awards include the A.Sc.Br.'s Prize (2014) and FRS-FNRS Research Fellow Grant (2015). Active in conferences and workshops on nanomedicine and radiotherapy.
