Dr. Sebastiano Garroni is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Investigator at the ICCRAM Research Center in Burgos, Spain, and previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Sassari, Italy. He holds a Chemistry Degree (cum laude, 2007) from the University of Sassari and a European PhD in Materials Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2011), supported by the Marie Curie Network Project COSY.
His research focuses on innovative materials for energy storage and conversion, including hydrogen storage systems, lithium-ion batteries, piezoelectric devices, and mechanochemical synthesis. He has published over 80 articles (h-index=17), holds an international patent, and has been awarded the UAB Extraordinary Award (2012). He coordinates several international projects like the H2020-funded Nanopiezoelectrics and CO2MPRISE initiatives.
Dr. Garroni actively collaborates with institutions globally, including the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht and DESY Synchrotron. He has presented at over 30 conferences, delivering 15 oral presentations (including 4 invited and 1 plenary talks). His work emphasizes advanced materials fabrication, structural analysis via neutron/X-ray diffraction, and solid-state NMR applications.
As a scientific coordinator, he manages projects totaling €700k+, including the Legge 7 Under 40 Regional Project and the RISE CO2MPRISE. His contributions to mechanochemistry and materials science have positioned him as a leading researcher in sustainable energy technologies.
