Prof. Dr. Sebastian Rădulețu is a prominent Romanian jurist serving as a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) since July 2023. He holds a dual academic role as a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Craiova, specializing in Criminal Law and Human Rights. His academic journey includes a doctoral degree (2023) from the University of Oxford, where he also served as a Retained Lecturer and later Honorary Fellow. Notable academic contributions include groundbreaking research on corporate criminal liability under EU law and ECHR case law analysis. He has authored influential publications in International Journal of Transitional Justice and Oxford Journal of Law and Religion. Prof. Rădulețu’s recent ECHR rulings address complex issues like asset confiscation for public officials, freedom of expression on social media, and fair trial standards in criminal appeals. He has been honored with the Farthing Scholarship and an Oxford honorary title. Beyond academia, he has advised Romania’s Ministry of Justice and contributed to international legal networks like the Venice Commission.
