Sebastian Reineke

Sebastian Reineke is a Professor for Organic Semiconductors at Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden), holding the Chair for Organic Semiconductors (W2) since June 2016 and serving as a principal investigator at the German Excellence Cluster cfaed. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor (Jun.-Prof./W1) at TU Dresden (2014-2016), Visiting Scientist at LMU Munich (2013-2014), and Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT (2011-2013).

His education includes a Diploma in Physics from Heidelberg and Dresden (2005) and a PhD in Physics from TU Dresden (2010) with the thesis "Controlling Excitons: Concepts for Phosphorescent Organic LEDs at High Brightness" (supervised by Prof. Karl Leo).

Reineke's research centers on organic semiconductor physics, with emphasis on phosphorescent OLEDs, exciton management, and solid-state lighting technologies. His work addresses fundamental challenges in exciton quenching and high-brightness device operation, contributing to advancements in energy-efficient displays and lighting. With over 110 publications and an h-index of 43, he is a leading figure in organic photonics and optoelectronic materials science.
