- Education: Dr. theol. (2016) from University of Vienna, Habilitation in theology and philosophy, studies in Catholic religious education, theology, and psychology
His research interrogates postcolonial theological frameworks through lenses of political identity, climate justice, and utopian praxis, often employing Ellacuría's thought to critique modernity's indifference. Recent publications analyze decolonial futures, recolonization risks, and intercultural theological methodologies.
While primarily publishing in peer-reviewed theological journals and edited volumes, Pittl has also contributed translations and critical reviews of postcolonial and liberationist texts. His work bridges systematic theology, political theory, and decolonial epistemologies, with particular emphasis on Latin American and European contexts.
