Sebastian Hamann

Sebastian Hamann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chamber Music at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk since October 2022. He holds a distinguished career as a violinist, violist, and educator, with professorships at Universities of Lübeck, Frankfurt am Main, Basel, and the Lucerne School of Music. His teaching philosophy emphasizes 'perfection and purity of sound,' shaped by mentors including Serge Collot and Heinrich Schiff.

His performance career includes roles as concertmaster in orchestras in Essen, Frankfurt, Cologne, and Lübeck, as well as guest concertmaster for the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Balthasar Neumann Ensemble. He is a founding member of the Amati Quartet and Miró Trio, and conductor of the Camerata Hanseatica Gdańsk and Lucerne Chamber Orchestra. His performances span prestigious festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the Rheingau Musik Festival.

Hamann’s pedagogical legacy includes students winning major competitions like the ARD Munich and Franz Schubert Graz. His career seamlessly blends performance, teaching, and ensemble leadership, fostering creativity in emerging musicians globally.
