Sebastian Grevsmühl, CNRS Research Fellow at the Centre for Historical Research (CRH) and affiliate of the GRHEN (Environmental History Research Group), specializes in the history of science, technology, and the environment with a focus on visual studies. He is based at EHESS in Paris and has held teaching positions at École Normale Supérieure, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and EHESS since 2023.

His work spans global environmental imagery, Cold War legacy projects like ANR Spherographia (history of globes and environmental visualization), and the French Southern Territories project (2020-2023). He led the 2018 PSL project Environmental Humanities in the Age of the Anthropocene and contributed to the 2017 special issue in GEO: Geography and Environment.
Scientific awards include the 2013 SFHST prize for best thesis in history of science and technology. His publications analyze environmental visualization trends, from Antarctic ozone hole metaphors to space-age Earth imagery.
