Sebastiaan Overeem

Sebastiaan Overeem is a Full Professor (part-time) in the Signal Processing Systems group at Eindhoven University of Technology's Department of Electrical Engineering. He is also a clinical somnologist at the Center for Sleep Medicine Kempenhaeghe. His research focuses on developing advanced diagnostic and monitoring methods for sleep disorders, particularly narcolepsy and sleep disturbances in neurodegenerative diseases. Overeem holds a PhD and MD from Leiden University and has held roles at Radboud University Medical Center and Kempenhaeghe. He has published over 260 peer-reviewed papers with an H-index of 59.

Research Interests: Sleep medicine, hypocretin system biology, technological innovations in sleep diagnostics, and non-invasive measurement modalities. His work bridges clinical sleep medicine and engineering, emphasizing translational research.

Grants & Collaborations: Coordinated projects at the Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center (e/MTIC), including advancements in wearable sleep monitoring and AI-driven diagnostics. Recipient of grants from STW/IWT and Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
