Sean Paul Ashley is a President's Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland. He holds non-residential fellowships at the Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War and previously served as the Karen TU'89 and Joseph Niehaus 1985 Postdoctoral Fellow at Dartmouth College and a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow at Notre Dame.

Research Interests: Dr. Ashley's work focuses on post-civil war state-building, authoritarian regime survival, and the organizational dynamics of armed groups. His book project examines why some rebel regimes collapse post-victory while others establish durable institutions.
