Sean Kelly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph's School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD). He serves as Director of SEDRD since 2017, after being promoted from Assistant Professor in 2006, and brings extensive practical experience in landscape design and planning to his teaching.

Sean’s research focuses on interdisciplinary projects examining resort maturation, sustainability in rural communities, government sponsorship of capital projects, and how design drives economic development in small towns and destination areas. His work integrates global perspectives from projects spanning Austria, Germany, Norway, Morocco, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and the USA.
Professionally, he partners with a planning/design firm serving small communities and destination areas, while maintaining active memberships in the Ontario Association of Landscape Architecture (OALA), Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
