معرفی
Sean Gu is an Instructor in Laboratory Medicine and a Clinical Fellow at the Yale School of Medicine. He holds an MD and PhD from the University of Iowa's Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). His research focuses on platelet biology, thrombosis, and vascular disorders, with a particular emphasis on translational studies linking molecular mechanisms to clinical outcomes. He is affiliated with the Hwa Lab and has contributed to advancements in diagnostic methods for bleeding disorders and vascular diseases.
Education:
- MD and PhD, University of Iowa (MSTP, 2021)
- Hematopathology Fellowship, Yale-New Haven Hospital (2021)
- Clinical Pathology Residency, Yale-New Haven Hospital (2022)
Research Interests:
Dr. Gu investigates platelet function, antiplatelet therapies, and the role of proteomics in understanding thrombotic and inflammatory diseases. His work spans clinical diagnostics, vascular biology, and the molecular basis of hematologic disorders. Key areas include demographic diversity in platelet response, engineered vascular conduits, and CAR T cell therapy-associated toxicities.
Awards:
- Early-Career Scientific Research Award (2025, AABB)
- JH Milstone Award (2021, Yale SOM)
- National Merit Scholar (2004)
Grants & Labs:
He collaborates with the Hwa Lab, focusing on vascular and platelet research. His work is supported by NIH grants, including the T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Future Directions:
Dr. Gu aims to advance personalized medicine in hematology through integrative proteomic and genetic approaches, particularly in thrombosis and CAR T cell therapy optimization.
