Sean Grant

Dr. Sean Grant is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Oregon's College of Education, affiliated with the HEDCO Institute for Evidence-Based Educational Practice. He holds additional roles as Associate Member at the University of Oxford’s Department of Social Policy and Intervention, Senior Research Fellow at 3ie, and Adjunct Social & Behavioral Scientist at RAND. His expertise centers on evidence synthesis, open science practices, and methodological transparency in health and social policy research.

Dr. Grant earned a DPhil in Social Intervention from the University of Oxford (Clarendon Scholar), an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention, and dual Honors BAs in Psychology and Philosophy (summa cum laude) from Loyola Marymount University. His honors include the Nan Tobler Award, NIH Early Independence Award Finalist, and multiple fellowships.

His research focuses on advancing transparent, reproducible methodologies for evaluating interventions. Key areas include systematic reviews, Delphi processes, and open science policies. He leads initiatives like the Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) Guidelines and advises entities such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Grant’s work spans over 50 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on meta-analyses, policy evaluations, and methodological innovations. He serves on editorial boards for Prevention Science and Campbell Systematic Reviews, advocating for rigorous scientific standards.

His interdisciplinary collaborations address critical issues like opioid treatment policies, school-based mental health programs, and evidence-based SEL interventions under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
