Scott West

Scott West is an Adjunct Professor in The Citadel's Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences, affiliated with the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics. He specializes in information security with over 25 years of experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Navy (DoN) programs. His work focuses on technical/organizational risk assessment and cybersecurity management.

West holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University (graduated 1993 from The Citadel). He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2002 and holds advanced certifications including GCIH (Incident Handling), GWAPT (Web App Pen Testing), GPEN (Network Pen Testing), and GMOB (Mobile Security Analysis).

He has led multi-disciplinary teams for USMC/DoD cybersecurity programs and currently oversees the NSA-certified DoD Cyber Red Team at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR). His roles include directing adversarial cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and threat emulation for diverse defense systems.

West's experience includes leadership positions at SPAWAR Atlantic, managing penetration testing and risk mitigation competencies. He remains actively involved in cybersecurity T&E (Testing & Evaluation) for critical defense infrastructure.
