Shadi Sadeghpour

Dr. Shadi Sadeghpour is an Assistant Professor of Cyber Operations at The Citadel, based in the Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences under the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Cybersecurity focus) from York University (2023), along with a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering and M.Sc. in Computer Networks from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research emphasizes applying machine learning to cybersecurity challenges, particularly web bot detection, intrusion detection systems, and adversarial machine learning.

Her work involves developing defenses against session-replay bots using techniques like LSTM neural networks and web page randomization (RanABD framework). She also studies behavioral analysis through datasets like ReMouse, which quantifies human trajectory patterns to distinguish bots. Current projects include UAV-based intrusion detection systems employing intelligent approaches.

Dr. Sadeghpour actively advises undergraduate and graduate research groups at The Citadel. Her recent publications (2023-2025) focus on bot detection methodologies, IoT security, and machine learning applications in cybersecurity. She collaborates on projects addressing real-time botnet detection and ad fraud mitigation in digital advertising.

Labs/Teams: Involved with The Citadel's Cyber Range and Research Labs including CHARIoTS Lab and RADIUS Lab. Engaged in Citadel Cyber Institute initiatives and DoD Cyber Service Academy Scholarship programs.
