Dr. Scott Walsworth is a Professor of Industrial Relations at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan, where he also serves as Vice-Provost of Faculty Relations. He holds a PhD in Industrial Relations (University of Toronto), a Master of Law specializing in employment law (Osgoode Hall Law School), and an Honours B.A. in Labour Studies (McMaster University). His research focuses on the intersection of unions, management practices, and organizational outcomes, particularly in innovation, employment growth, and gender equity in academia. He has served as Chair of the Saskatchewan Educational Relations Board and as president of the Canadian Industrial Relations Association (CIRA).
Key research areas include workplace policies (e.g., cannabis use regulations), international student integration, and labor arbitration in healthcare and public sectors. His SSHRC-funded work examines how unions influence firm-level decisions. Recent publications analyze pandemic impacts on academic productivity and transnational student networks. He teaches courses on labor law, HR management, and industrial relations.
Professional roles include arbitrator since 2020, academic director of the Labour-Management Relations Certificate Program, and director of the Saskatoon CIRA chapter. His work bridges theoretical research with practical policy interventions in Canadian labor markets.
