Professor Scott Slorach holds dual roles as Professor at York Law School and Director of Learning and Teaching at the University of York. With a background in legal practice and higher education leadership, he previously served as Professor of Curriculum Development at Nottingham Trent University and Vice-President (Education) at the University of Law. His research focuses on legal education systems, professional regulation, and quality assurance in legal training. He has contributed to national reports on legal education reform in Ireland and Wales, and advised judicial diversity training programs.
Education: MA (Oxon).
Teaching & Research: Teaches undergraduate modules like Commerce & Finance and Legal Skills, as well as postgraduate courses such as Legal Services Business & Strategy. His authored textbooks include Legal Systems and Skills (5th ed, OUP) and SQE Business Law & Practice (4th ed, OUP).
External Contributions: Led practical legal training program designs for Australia and New Zealand, advised the Solicitors Regulation Authority on SQE reforms, and serves on validation panels for LLB/LLM programs. Current initiatives include the O Shaped Lawyer CPD framework for Scotland’s Law Society.
