Dr. Scott Shinabargar serves as Professor of French and Chair of the Department of World Languages & Cultures at Winthrop University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research examines 19th and 20th century French literature, with particular focus on poetry, comparative studies, and the role of violence in modern aesthetics. He investigates rhetorical structures in literary movements and phonetic dimensions of poetic expression.
Dr. Shinabargar's scholarly contributions include editing a special issue of La Revue des Sciences Humaines on French poetic tradition and authoring 'The Revolting Body of Poetry' (BRILL | Rodopi, 2016), which analyzes expressive dimensions in literary works. His research explores textual analysis of authors including Lautréamont, Henri Michaux, René Char, and Philippe Jaccottet.
