Dr. Scott Pattenaude serves as Assistant Professor and Chemistry Program Director at Greenville University's College of Arts and Sciences, where he also holds the position of Chemical Hygiene Officer. His multifaceted role encompasses teaching undergraduate chemistry courses and leading an active research program in inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Purdue University (2018), B.S. in Chemistry from University of Illinois (2012), and A.S. in Chemistry from Lake Land College (2010). He holds certificates in Experiential Learning and Facilitating Experiential Learning Online.
Dr. Pattenaude's research focuses on metal/amino acid coordination chemistry and local well water quality analysis, with particular expertise in air- and moisture-sensitive inorganic synthesis. His recent work examines actinide/lanthanide chemistry, bioinorganic enzyme mechanisms, and environmental applications. He maintains strong inter-departmental collaborations across the university and emphasizes experiential learning in his pedagogy.
His publication record demonstrates significant contributions to actinide chemistry, hydrogenase enzymology, and coordination chemistry, with 9 publications in high-impact journals between 2015-2021. These works reveal consistent focus on f-element chemistry, redox processes, and biomimetic synthesis.
