University of North Carolina at Greensboroمعرفی
Dr. Daniel Rabinovich is an Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education and Professor at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN), University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Previously, he spent 25 years in the Department of Chemistry at UNC Charlotte. He holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Columbia University (1994) and conducted postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory until 1996.
His research focuses on synthetic and structural inorganic, bioinorganic, and organometallic chemistry, particularly coordination chemistry of sulfur/selenium ligands, single-source precursors, and antimicrobial/anticancer metal compounds. He also explores the history of chemistry, chemical education, and philately as educational tools. Notable contributions include over 60 peer-reviewed publications and the application of postage stamps in teaching.
- Education: Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, Columbia University (1994)
- Postdoctoral: Los Alamos National Laboratory (1994–1996)
His research trends reflect interdisciplinary approaches, blending traditional inorganic synthesis with historical and educational outreach. Recent publications emphasize crystallographic studies, halogen-bond acceptors, and philatelic celebrations of chemical milestones.
- ACS Award for Research at an Undergraduate Institution (2021)
- ACS Fellow (2020)
- American Crystallographic Association Elizabeth A. Wood Award (2014)
Dr. Rabinovich’s advising and grants highlight his commitment to undergraduate research and diversity initiatives. His work bridges academic research with public engagement through philatelic projects and historical narratives in chemistry.
