Scott Newbolds

Dr. Scott Newbolds is a Professor in the School of Engineering at Benedictine College, where he has taught since 2012. His instructional focus includes structural design, engineering mechanics, and engineering materials. A licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana, he holds advanced degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.

His research spans Civil Engineering and Materials Science with specialized expertise in concrete materials and corrosion mechanisms in reinforced concrete structures. He pioneers the integration of Catholic theological principles with engineering ethics, establishing a unique interdisciplinary framework for professional practice that bridges technical rigor and moral philosophy.

Dr. Newbolds actively mentors students through the concrete canoe competition team and ASCE student chapter, while leading engineering mission trips that combine technical service with faith-based outreach. His prior leadership as Director of Site Operations for the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) demonstrates significant infrastructure management experience.

He maintains active involvement with the concrete canoe program and ASCE chapter, developing student competencies in applied materials science and professional engineering practice through hands-on projects and community engagement initiatives.
