Goli Nossoni is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Haven's Tagliatela College of Engineering. She joined the faculty in Spring 2018 and holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, alongside a B.S. from the University of Zanjan, Iran. Her research focuses on structural engineering, sustainability, and advanced civil engineering materials with particular emphasis on corrosion-induced cracking in concrete and self-healing materials.
Dr. Nossoni currently serves as the undergraduate civil engineering program coordinator and advisor for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter. Her work combines technical innovation with educational pedagogy, evidenced by publications exploring Gen Z engineering student demographics and makerspace integration in curricula.
Her over 15 years of research output includes pioneering studies on FRP-wrapped concrete reinforcement corrosion modeling (since 2010), bacterial-based self-healing concrete mechanisms (2016-2019), and chloride diffusion mitigation strategies. These contributions have been presented at major conferences like ASEE and the International Concrete Sustainability Conference.
Her professional activities include media commentary on structural integrity issues such as the Florida building collapse discussed in Connecticut Public Radio interviews. She maintains active roles in both technical research and educational innovation within civil engineering disciplines.
