Hayder A. Rasheed

Hayder A. Rasheed is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Kansas State University's Carl R. Ice College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas at Austin (1996), an M.S. (1990) and B.S. (1987) from the University of Baghdad, Iraq.

Rasheed specializes in the behavior and nonlinear analysis of structural systems using advanced composites and reinforced/prestressed concrete. His research includes analytical solutions for composite pipeline buckling, bond slip analysis in FRP-strengthened beams, numerical frameworks for FRP-wrapped bridge piers under extreme loads, and AI-driven structural health monitoring systems combining finite element simulations with neural networks for crack detection and health indexing. Recent projects focus on aluminum alloy alternatives to FRP strengthening and fatigue life prediction software for highway sign structures.

His work has led to the development of software packages such as KDOT Column Expert, BRIDGE, BRIDGES, DRY BEAM, FAO-SSS, WS-SKS, and FSCB-SSS. He has authored one graduate textbook, two reference books, three book chapters, over 90 journal papers, and 140 conference presentations with more than 1930 citations (H-index 21, i-10 index 37).
