معرفی
Scott Markwith is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University. His work bridges ecological biogeography, restoration, and spatial modeling, with a focus on human-environment interactions and conservation.
- Education: Ph.D. in Geography (University of Georgia, 2007), MS in Geography (University of Georgia, 2001), BA in Geography (University of Mary Washington, 1997)
Dr. Markwith's research explores vegetation dynamics, wildfire impacts, and ecosystem sustainability. He leads projects on deadwood management, post-fire recovery, and estuarine resilience to climate change. His recent publications highlight innovations in spatial modeling, carbon sequestration strategies, and conflicts between renewable energy development and wildlife conservation.
Dr. Markwith's grants include funding from the NSF, USDA, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. He co-directs the Biogeography Lab and contributes to the Reburn Science Project, integrating field data with computational models to inform land management policies.
- Scientific Awards:
- ORISE Fellowship with the USDA Forest Service
His teaching includes courses on physical geography, ecological restoration, and quantitative methods. Current projects examine Lake Okeechobee food webs, western deadwood management, and solar energy's ecological trade-offs.
