Research emphasizes intersections between economic systems and literary form, particularly how scarcity and ecological concerns manifest in narratives. Recent articles explore climate change in 18th-century texts, eco-critical readings of Gothic fiction, and prehistories of corporate legal identity.
Awards: Walker Cowen Prize (2013). Courses taught include advanced studies in 18th-century literature, Romanticism, and literary theory. He is completing a study titled Poetics of Scarcity, extending his analysis of material conditions in narrative structures.
