Scott Laserow serves as Professor of Design and Illustration at Temple University's Tyler School of Art and Architecture, currently on Spring 2025 leave. His academic foundation includes a BFA in Graphic Design from Tyler (1987).
Laserow's research pioneers the fusion of traditional poster design with emerging technologies, evolving from political/social/environmental posters since 2004 to current explorations in animated, augmented reality (AR), and interactive formats that engage digital-native audiences. His humanitarian-focused practice produces pro-bono work addressing global crises through visual storytelling.
His artistic research demonstrates consistent thematic focus across publications, with environmental messaging dominating recent output through works like 'Plastic Fish' and 'H2Ourglass' examining pollution, while fashion-related pieces ('Zip Up', 'Button Up') critique consumer culture. The trajectory shows increasing technological integration while maintaining socio-political commentary.
Selected honors include:
- Gold Medal, Ecuador Poster Bienal Exhibition (2017) - Social Posters category
- Platinum Award Winner, Graphis Posters 2015 (2015)
Laserow's extensive exhibition record (50+ peer-reviewed shows across 16 countries) and permanent collections worldwide reflect significant field impact. His curriculum development directly incorporates artistic research findings, and he has served as international juror for poster competitions four times, demonstrating scholarly leadership beyond campus.
