Dr Scott Huntly serves as a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Suffolk's School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology, where he has taught since January 2020 across undergraduate and postgraduate courses. His prior academic appointments include visiting lecturer at the University of Sunderland, assistant lecturer at the University of Essex, and guest lecturer at Regents College, Malvern.
He completed his doctoral research in the Department of Government at the University of Essex as a member of the Centre for Ideology and Discourse Analysis (cIDA), focusing on evangelical Christian political discourse after the 2016 U.S. election.
Dr Huntly specializes in political theory using ideology and discourse analysis to examine global politics and religion, with particular expertise in charismatic Christian political behavior, populism, and post-colonial dynamics. His current research expands on evangelical discourse surrounding Donald Trump, forming the basis of forthcoming publications and a monograph.
His scientific recognition includes:

He actively supervises PhD students through the Suffolk Doctoral College and designs curriculum modules including contemporary political theory, ideology and populism, and British government. A dedicated advocate for widening participation in higher education, he emphasizes supporting marginalized groups through personal academic coaching and inclusive teaching practices.
