Scott E. Henke

Scott E. Henke serves as Regents Professor and Research Scientist at Texas A&M University-Kingsville's Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute (CKWRI) and Department of Rangeland and Wildlife Sciences, where he has conducted research and taught since 1992. His interdisciplinary work bridges wildlife science, disease ecology, and practical conservation management.

Dr. Henke's research program investigates critical wildlife challenges through three interconnected lenses: wildlife disease (rabies, distemper, zoonotic parasites), predator-prey dynamics (mesopredator competition, removal effects), and human-wildlife conflicts (invasive species impacts, nuisance wildlife management). His field studies span diverse species including horned lizards, alligators, coyotes, and songbirds, with current projects addressing aflatoxin exposure in birds, brown tree snake invasions, and Texas horned lizard conservation.

Dr. Henke's scholarly impact is recognized through:
