Evan P. Tanner

Dr. Evan P. Tanner serves as Assistant Professor and Endowed Meadows Professor for Semiarid Land Ecology at Texas A&M University-Kingsville's Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He has held this position since 2020 after completing postdoctoral research at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Tanner's research integrates thermal ecology with avian conservation, investigating how extreme weather events and human landscape modifications affect bird populations. His work spans spatio-temporal modeling of thermal dynamics, socio-ecological policy analysis of the Conservation Reserve Program, and niche modeling of species like northern bobwhite, scaled quail, and lesser prairie-chicken across semiarid ecosystems.

His primary recognition is the Endowed Meadows Professorship for Semiarid Land Ecology. During his postdoctoral fellowship (2016-2019), he secured research funding through National Science Foundation and USDA grants supporting thermal dynamics and conservation policy studies.

As a core faculty member at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, he contributes to applied wildlife management initiatives in South Texas semiarid regions through field-based ecological research and conservation partnerships.
