Scott Dickson
Professor of Visual & Media Arts at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), Scott Dickson holds a BFA from the University of Kansas (2007) and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (2009). His practice merges drawing, painting, and collage to explore themes of human connection, natural environments, and temporal reflection. He has exhibited widely, including solo shows at Plug Projects (Kansas City, 2014/2021) and Gamut Gallery (Evansville, 2018), with group exhibitions in Berlin, New York, and Chicago. Notable publications include contributions to Age of Collage (Gestalten, 2013) and Bien Choisir Son Materiel (Eyerolles, 2022). Dickson has held residencies at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory (2016) and participated in the ArtistINC Seminar Series (2014). Teaching roles span GVSU, Kendall College of Art and Design, and Arkansas State University. His work often investigates the tension between childhood spontaneity and adult structure, using vibrant, geometric forms and abstracted figures to convey emotional and existential themes.
