Scott Espeseth is a Professor of Art and the Dr. Richard K. and Gloria T. Nystrom Professorial Chair in Fine Arts at Beloit College, where he has taught since 2002. His academic roles include teaching drawing, etching, screen printing, and relief printmaking. He holds an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2000) and a BFA in Printmaking from West Virginia University (1997).
His research focuses on drawing and printmaking, creating works that explore the eeriness of everyday experiences, often described as 'clairvoyant.' His art has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo shows at the James Watrous Gallery (Madison) and group exhibitions at venues like the Trout Museum of Art and the Museum of Wisconsin Art. Notable awards include Second Place in the 2024 Wisconsin Artists Biennial and Honorable Mention in the 2019 Cimarron National Works on Paper Exhibition.
Key exhibitions include Signal Bleed (2017), Grey Haunts (2023), and Backyard Premonitions (2005). His work often merges surreal themes with domestic imagery, reflecting on memory, consciousness, and existential tension. He has lectured widely, including at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Monmouth College. Espeseth’s art is featured in collections such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and DePaul University Art Museum.
