Scott C. Jones is a Professor of Biblical Studies in the Biblical & Theological Studies department at Covenant College since 2005. His expertise spans ancient Near Eastern wisdom literature, the Book of Job, the Book of Psalms, and Biblical Hebrew. Jones holds a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary-Orlando, and a B.A. from the University of Mississippi.
His research focuses on exploring wisdom traditions in the Hebrew Bible and their reception in later Jewish and early Christian texts. Key areas include intertextual connections between Psalms and other wisdom texts, the theological nuances of Job, and the development of devotional practices in post-exilic Judaism.
Recent publications analyze Job’s canonical role (2023), the literary function of proverbs (2022), comparative wisdom studies (2021), and reception history of Psalm 19 in Ben Sira and Qumran texts (2020). His work on Psalm 37 (2019) examines shifts in instructional literature after the Babylonian exile.
Though no formal awards are listed, his scholarship demonstrates sustained engagement with critical biblical studies. Jones advises no listed students but maintains active publication in peer-reviewed theological journals and reference works.
