Kevin L. Spawn is an Associate Professor of Old Testament at Regent University School of Divinity (2006–present), directing its Master's Programs. Previously, he taught at Simpson University (1998–2006) and the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies (1996–1998). He holds a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, alongside degrees from Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
His research focuses on Old Testament prophets, Psalms, Chronicles, Deuteronomy, Job, Esther, and biblical theology, with special attention to the Babylonian Exile and post-exilic restoration. He contributes to projects like 'Pneumatic Hermeneutic' (IBR) and 'Science in the Seminary' (AAAS/Templeton Foundation), blending theological and scientific inquiry. Spawn also engages in church-based teaching and preaching.
His scholarly work spans hermeneutics, intertextuality, and ancient texts, exemplified by publications like Spirit and Scripture: Exploring a Pneumatic Hermeneutic (2012) and studies on LXX Psalm 151 (2018). He has been recognized with awards including the Pusey and Ellerton Senior Hebrew Award (Oxford, 1996–97) and Simpson University’s Professor-of-the-Year (2000–1).
