Scott Budzynski is a Professor of Art History at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2012, specializing in modern and contemporary art with a focus on urban studies, avant-garde movements, and cultural memory. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Art History from Stony Brook University (SUNY) and Aquinas College. His academic roles include visiting professorships, research assistantships, and adjunct lecturing across institutions in Germany and the U.S., including Justus Liebig University Giessen and Philipps University of Marburg.
His research explores intersections between art, architecture, and urban space, particularly in Italian and German contexts. Notable themes include socio-cultural analysis of modern cities, cinematic representations of urban environments, and avant-garde movements. He has published books such as Self-Representation in German Art (2008) and authored articles on Pier Paolo Pasolini, Antonio Sant'Elia, and Milan's urban development.
Budzynski has received multiple awards, including the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence (2016–2017) and the DAAD Fellowship (2000–2002). His lectures and exhibitions address topics like 'The City as Transformative Object of the New' (American Association of Italian Studies, 2015) and 'Evoking the Modern City' (SCAD, 2016). He actively contributes to professional organizations like the College Art Association and European Architectural History Network.
