Juliet Koss is a Professor of Art History and the Gabrielle Jungels-Winkler Chair in the History of Architecture and Art at Scripps College. Her research focuses on 19th- and 20th-century European art and architecture, emphasizing German and Soviet modernism, the Gesamtkunstwerk, and avant-garde movements like the Bauhaus and Productivism. She is currently completing *Model Soviets*, an MIT Press book analyzing Soviet architectural imagery and state construction narratives.
Dr. Koss holds a Ph.D. from MIT's Department of Architecture and a B.A. in Art History from Columbia University. Her work bridges art, architecture, and cultural theory, with interdisciplinary projects examining media, urbanism, and political symbolism.
Her research has been supported by prestigious fellowships including the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Senior Fellowship (2021–22), the Rudolf Arnheim Visiting Professorship (2011), and the Berlin Prize Fellowship (2009). Her book *Modernism after Wagner* (2010) was a finalist for the College Art Association's Charles Rufus Morey Book Award.
