Associate Professor Scott Brook is affiliated with RMIT University's School of Media and Communication, where he served as Associate Dean (Communication) from 2018–2021. He previously held positions at the University of Canberra, including Associate Professor of Writing and Research Fellow. His research focuses on Creative and Cultural Industries, creative labour studies, and cultural policy, with a particular interest in Vietnamese Australian cultural production.
Education and Professional Background: His career includes roles at institutions such as Strasbourg University (Visiting Lecturer), Shanghai Jiaotong University (Visiting Scholar), and Monash University (Cultural Economy program). He has also been a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Canberra's Faculty of Arts and Design (2022).
Research Interests: His work examines sociological approaches to creative vocations, cultural field dynamics, and qualitative/quantitative studies of creative labour. Key projects include ARC-funded initiatives like 'Creative industries pathways to youth employment in the COVID-19 recession' (2021–23) and comparative studies of creative graduates in Australia and the UK.
