Anna Hickey-Moody is a Professor of Media and Communication at RMIT University on career development leave, currently serving as Director of the Arts and Humanities Research Institute at Maynooth University. She specializes in cultural studies, youth, gender, and disability, with a focus on arts-based methodologies and intersectional humanities. Her research explores marginalized youth experiences, employing creative and ethnographic approaches.
Key affiliations include RMIT’s School of Media and Communications and Maynooth’s Arts and Humanities Institute. She maintains leadership in interdisciplinary research, particularly through the VITAL ARTS project (micro-credentials for youth) and studies on queer religious youth.
Research interests span carbon cultures, environmental humanities, and decolonial pedagogy. Notable awards include an ARC Future Fellowship and RMIT’s Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellowship. She leads the CRiMP Lab, fostering feminist research in creative methods.
