Scott Baldridge is the Loretta Cox Stuckey and Dr. James G. Traynham Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Louisiana State University (LSU). He also serves as Associate Director of The Gordon A. Cain Center for Scientific, Technological, Engineering and Mathematical Literacy at LSU. His academic journey includes a PhD from Michigan State University and prior faculty positions at Indiana University before joining LSU in 2004.
His research focuses on theoretical models unifying general relativity and quantum mechanics. He has authored papers in top-tier mathematics journals and co-developed acclaimed textbooks for teacher education, including Elementary Mathematics for Teachers and Elementary Geometry for Teachers. In 2008, he received an NSF CAREER Award for his work in research and education.
Baldridge led the creation of the Eureka Math/EngageNY curriculum, used by millions of U.S. students. He also pioneered an Asian-style curriculum in Louisiana’s Baker school district, achieving a 90% rise in student performance on state assessments. His outreach includes over 200 academic lectures, a YouTube channel with 175k+ views, and active social media presence (Twitter @ScottBaldridge, LinkedIn, and Facebook).
