Scott A. McNitt, M.S., holds faculty appointments as a Senior Associate in the Department of Medicine, Cardiology Heart Research and the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine and Dentistry. His work focuses on biostatistical analysis for clinical trials and medical outcomes research, collaborating closely with medical professionals to prepare manuscripts and presentations for publication.
Education
- MS in Statistics, University of Connecticut (1989)
- BS in Statistics, Rochester Institute of Technology (1987)
Research Interests
McNitt specializes in applying statistical methodologies to cardiovascular research, particularly analyzing data from clinical trials related to implantable devices (e.g., ICDs) and their efficacy in patient populations. His work addresses topics such as arrhythmia prevention, racial disparities in device programming outcomes, and outcomes in LVAD patients. His contributions enhance evidence-based decision-making in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
Publications & Grants
McNitt has contributed to over 279 journal articles, including high-impact studies on ICD efficacy in long-QT syndrome and LVAD patients. He co-authored a chapter in New Arrhythmia Technologies (2005) on beta-blocker efficacy in Long-QT syndrome.
