Schiffmann

Prof. Schiffmann is a faculty member at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, where he leads the Laboratoire de conception mécanique appliquée (LAMD) within the School of Engineering's Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

His research focuses on advanced mechanical engineering applications for energy systems, particularly the development of high-speed micro-compressors operating at over 200,000 RPM. These innovations significantly improve heat pump efficiency with 25% reduced electricity consumption when operating at high temperature differentials.

Prof. Schiffmann's laboratory work extends to enhancing fuel cell performance and developing systems for recovering heat from combustion engine exhaust gases in heavy vehicles.
