Christian Trautmann

Prof. Christian Trautmann is a Professor of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Engines at TH Bingen since 2019. Previously, he held senior engineering roles at IHI Charging Systems International GmbH (2008–2019), JULABO Labortechnik GmbH (2005–2008), and served as a technical manager at SERO PumpSystems GmbH (2002–2004). He earned his PhD in 2004 and completed his mechanical engineering studies at TU Kaiserslautern (1990–1997).

His research focuses on fluid mechanics, numerical fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flow optimization, energy technology, combustion engines, and turbochargers. He manages critical laboratory facilities, including pump test benches (HYDR), piston/centrifugal compressors (VERD), and internal combustion engine setups (VERB).

Teaching responsibilities include courses on fluid mechanics (STRÖ), centrifugal pump design (AKRP), CFD simulations (CFDY+CFD2), and energy systems (THEN/ENER/ENAN/ENUM).

Awards and recognitions include the Bürkle Foundation, Fraund Prize, and Trossen Foundation, among others. His work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing practical applications in energy conversion and fluid dynamics.
