Dr. Scarlet Wilcock is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales' Faculty of Law and Justice and an Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society. She holds a PhD in Law from UNSW, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, and a dual honours degree in Arts and Law (UNSW). Her research examines socio-legal issues intersecting criminal law, social welfare, and technology, with a focus on how automated systems and policies criminalise marginalised groups.
Wilcock's research interests include:
- The criminalisation of poverty and gendered violence
- Algorithmic governance in welfare systems
- Feminist and critical analyses of social policy
- Technology-driven surveillance in public services
