Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR)معرفی
Sayanti Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. She holds a PhD in Bioinorganic Chemistry from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (Jadavpur University) and has held postdoctoral positions at institutions including the Max Planck Institutes in Germany and the University of Virginia, USA. Her research focuses on coordination and bioinorganic chemistry, organometallics, catalysis, and spectroscopic studies of reaction mechanisms.
Her academic journey includes roles such as Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow (2018–2020) and Max Planck Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2020–2022). She currently leads the Max Planck Partner Group India at IIT Roorkee, collaborating with German institutions on energy conversion research. Dr. Chatterjee has received prestigious awards including the DST-INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship (2022) and the Ashutosh Mookherjee Best Thesis Award (2016).
Research interests emphasize sustainable transition metal-catalyzed reactions, biomimetic systems for oxygen activation, and mechanistic studies using spectroscopic techniques. Her work spans applications in green chemistry, C-H bond functionalization, and CO2 reduction. Teaching responsibilities include courses like Advanced Inorganic Chemistry and Spectroscopic Methods of Structural Elucidation.
Administratively, she serves on committees such as the Department Faculty Committee and DORA Advisory Committee. She actively mentors PhD students in areas like organometallic reactivity and catalytic mechanism exploration.
