Vita Fürstner

Roles and Affiliations:
Vita Fürstner is a Professor at the Technical University of Dortmund and has been a Director at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung since 1998. He served as Managing Director of the institute from 2009–2011 and 2016–2017. His academic career includes leadership roles in both research institutions and academia.

Education:

• 1987: PhD in Organic Chemistry at the Technical University Graz, Austria (supervised by H. Weidmann)
• 1992: Habilitation in Organic Chemistry at the Technical University Graz

Research Interests: Dr. Fürstner's work focuses on organometallic chemistry, particularly in the development of transition-metal-catalyzed reactions for organic synthesis. His research bridges fundamental catalysis and applications in materials and synthetic chemistry. Key areas include asymmetric catalysis, C–H functionalization, and the design of novel ligands for precise reaction control.

Teams and Collaborations: He leads the Fürstner Team at the Max-Planck-Institut, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in catalytic methodologies and synthetic strategies.
