Savina Torrisi is a Senior Tutor and 2nd-year Lead in the Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) programme at the Royal College of Art (RCA), School of Design. She holds a BArch and MArch from the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria and a Final Certificate in Architecture (RIBA Part 3) from the University of Palermo. Her academic roles include Acting Head of the IDE programme and Associate Professor in the Master in Architectural Management and Design (MAMD) at IE School of Architecture and Design in Madrid until 2020. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) in Beijing.
Her research focuses on transdisciplinary collaboration, systemic thinking, and innovation addressing social and environmental challenges. Key projects include the RCA-CERN Grand Challenge (2018-19), exploring design-science intersections, and the Creative Connectivity project applying network theory to team dynamics. She leads NOI Architects, a transdisciplinary firm, and has collaborated with institutions like Kyushu University and Queen Mary University.
Her work emphasizes reflective practices and pedagogy, advancing transdisciplinary education and fostering innovation through transient collaborations. Funding includes the Office for Students (OfS) and interinstitutional grants for projects like Re-mix and Creative Connectivity. Her contributions span exhibitions, talks, and symposia globally, highlighting the role of design in complex societal and environmental contexts.
